Agile DevOps for Operations

In many, if not most cases, an IT department roots from Operations, or Infrastructure, and grows to take application management tasks. Later, it spins off an independent Application team completing the segregation between Platform and Software layers.

In this case this had already been attempted yielding negative results – the plan was to merge back the teams while introducing Agile mindset and DevOps methods.

It’s common knowledge that Operations is a tough case for lean practices. Integrating with a Project team adds challenges on top. This did not stop my attempt to spread the framework. Hopefully there will be limited tolerance for outdated approaches going forward as Agile broke the norm – there is unfair competition between such organizations and classical, reactive ones.
